Balance in our life, just like happiness, is an ambition, maybe a mirage. One out of four people in the world will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives. Around 450 million people worldwide currently suffer from such conditions.
The DSM-5, released in May by the American Psychiatric Association, counts more than 290 different mental disorders. But how to diagnose and treat this kind of diseases? Current clinical practice is based only on verbal interviews and scores from specific questionnaires. No reliable and objective psycho-physiological markers are taken into account.
However patients would benefit form a more objective approach. Digital technology can be crucial in improving both diagnose and treatment and, especially in this case, user experience can make the difference.
